News - LaTeX Community

Do you already know the new Know How Articles Section of LaTeX Community? It's a great place where LaTeX users all about the world can share their knowledge. Articles are not written by professional authors, but instead from users for users. We have introduced this great new LaTeX knowledge base together with our web site design relaunch on January 14 this year -- now it's time to animate it ... and that's where you are entering the scene.

Do you know anything LaTeX-related that may be useful to others? Maybe you have compared different LaTeX distributions or editors? Maybe it took you some time to figure out how a specific document class or package is working? Or maybe you have any other LaTeX-related knowledge of what you think it may be useful for other users too? If you can answer one of the previous questions with "yes" or if you have any other ideas for a LaTeX related article useful to other users, then go ahead and write an article (also look here for additional ideas). The only requirement is, that you article should not be trivial.

The author of the article with the best rating at the end of March will win an iPod Nano with 8 GB in LaTeX Community Know How Green. If you prefer cash instead, then you can choose for €100. Read on to learn about the details. The faster you submit your article, the higher the chances to win!

How does it work?

At first read the following pages:

and go through these too:

Write and submit an article respecting the rules defined on the above mentioned pages. After your article has been published all LaTeX Community users are able to rate your article with 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) stars. The author of the article with the best average rating at the 31st of March 2009 will win the price. If there are several articles with the same average rating, the one with the higher number of votes will win. If articles are also equal in this category, the winner will be selected randomly. At the beginning of April we will contact the winner who will then be able to choose between the iPod or cash.

Eligibility Requirements

The iPod Nano will be send via Amazon. So if you choose the iPod, you need to live in a country, where Amazon delivers to. The money will be transferred via PayPal. So if you choose for cash, you need to have a valid PayPal account.
