Excactly two years ago - on the 14th of January 2007 - LaTeX Community has gone online. Though nothing more than a simple forum or to be more precise bulletin board, its growth (about 14,000 posts, 3,000 registered users and 3,000 visits per day) has shown, that LaTeX users all over the world were already waiting for a place to find help and exchange their knowledge. Though the classical forums are still available, starting today, LaTeX Community is no longer only a simple bulletin board. Some exciting new features and a brand new page layout have been introduced to increase the value for all LaTeX Community users...
Know How
The most promising new feature is the Know How section of LaTeX Community. This section will contain articles about everything related to LaTeX, clearly structured into different categories. You may be disappointed, that this section is empty and the moment. The reason is simple: The articles in the know how section are not written by professional authors -- instead we are counting on you, to share your knowledge with other users. Writing an article for LaTeX Community is very easy and the only precondition is, that you have to be a registered user - if you have posted to the old forum, you already have an account. Go ahead and learn how to write an article and share your knowledge with others. NewsThe new news section has the goal to provide breaking news about LaTeX and everything that is related. Besides the possibility to read the articles on the news page of LaTeX Community, you can also subscribe to the RSS/Atom news feed to stay tuned without polling the web page. In the beginning we may miss some news you would have expected to show up. In such cases please help us to build up a good and complete news section by submitting links and tips for important LaTeX related news.
Other FeaturesTo get the best experience out of this site we introduced some additional features to those mentioned above. These are mainly
And the Forum?well, the forums are still there, as you are used to them - just with another design. Some closing WordsThe new features of LaTeX Community are a great chance to build up a state of the art knowledge base for LaTeX users all around the world. Comments
I'd like to post a question rather than a frustration. Sorry. You're well-intended and I know these problems will be solved.
During the several bug fixes we implemented today, we caused the whole page or parts of it to not being available from time to time. All these issues are fixed now and should work smoothly.
It may happen, that you will not be able to login to the forum. In these cases please remove all your browser cookies for latex-community.org, afterwards the login should work without problems.
Sorry for the inconvenience...

just wanted to say that I really like the News section on this new site :) It's great to see news about new packages etc., since I believe that most of people don't have time nor patience to look around for new packages etc. :)
It's really cool :) Thanks again.
I'm missing the feature to edit my own comments after they were released, in case they would need a correction in layout or content.

even if I'm logged in I don't get the "Edit" button, only the "Post Reply" button. I've tested with Opera 9.51 and Firefox 3.0.3.
