Sumatra PDF Releases

Postby localghost » Wed Nov 18, 2009 4:24 pm

Yesterday Version 1.0 of this open source PDF viewer has been released [1]. According to the version history it contains lots of small bug fixes and improvements.

Sumatra PDF works well in conjunction with TeXnicCenter (TXC) and supports SyncTeX to switch between source and output. Current alpha builds of TXC 2.0 make Sumatra PDF their default PDF viewer, thus generate appropriate build profiles in case Sumatra PDF is installed. Even if the Ad0be Reader (AR) is installed, Sumatra PDF will be preferred.

Today Sumatra PDF Version 1.1 has been released. Among several bug fixes and new features the display of PDF files has been improved. An outstanding feature is the auto-detection of commonly used editors in order to enable inverse search.

  • text search consumes less memory.
  • translation updates.

The full change log can be found on the project page. Issues are discussed in the Sumatra PDF Viewer Forum.

On 12 March the new version 1.4 of Sumatra PDF has been released. Beside fixed bugs some highlights are:

  • Browser plug-in for Firefox/Chrome/Opera (no support for Internet Explorer). Installation is not activated by default and has to be chosen explicitly.
  • menu items for re-opening current document in Foxit and PDF-XChange (if they're installed).
  • support for AES-256 encrypted PDF documents.

The full list can be found on the project page.
