Bibtex problems not runnint

Hi Peaches!

Do you use a LaTeX editor? Which one?

If you compile at the command prompt, that is, in a terminal window, it goes like

pdflatex main
bibtex main
pdflatex main
pdflatex main

These several runs to resolve all cross-references with page numbers.

Rule direction

I remember, also in picture mode rules are built of font rules, that's why slanted rules may look not so smooth.

I would use TikZ for producing lines, also in text, as overlays. No big thing today.

Unable to Compile tikz package

Better do a full install (such as by sudo yum install texlive-scheme-full ) if you have 3GB available on your hard disk. This saves headaches such as now when packages are missing. You would also have consistent package versions. (or search via sudo yum search pgf , sudo yum search tikz ) Besides th...

drawing figure

Hi Fafa,

welcome to the forum!

It seems you uploaded the image somewhere else. Where did you post this question too? I don't want to spent time on working on it if it's already discussed and finished somewhere else.

Another thought: perhaps also try reducing the minimal example further: remove natwidth and natheight options and the figure* environment and test again.

Crazy thought: if all is called "test", the .tex file and the .pdf file too, perhaps don't call the image test.png but somethingelse.png so LaTeX would not try to include test.pdf in itself, even if you specified the file name extension png.

Can you also post the png file and the produced pdf output, as attachment here?

As you are not worrying about re-installing LaTeX: you could install TeX Live instead of MiKTeX. Overleaf works with TeX Live. I use it too, and I'm very satisfied with it. There's a new major version every year and it's continuously updated. It got a package manager tool too. I recommend though to ...

Retardation in writting

Hi Kim,

that seems to be an editor issue. Which editor are you using? One with live preview? In that case real-time compilation would slow it down.
